Easter holidays

It is going to be an individual project for fourteen years' old students.
Aims of the project:
Spanish students should write some e-mails to their penpal friends in order to tell them about the activities and customs of their culture during Easter holidays. Either they should ask them what they do during that time, what kind of things they are used to do at school, with their families and the society in general.
Linguistic objectives
Thus, students should practice the present tense and the use of the verbal expression "to be used to" by telling some habitual activities that they do during Easter.
Communicative objectives
Students have to acquire a wider knowledge about other cultures , such as North American culture, and at the same time, a brief revision of present tenses.

CONTENIDO
El project puede ser de los "tópicos típicos" de cada país, los estereotipos de cada país
El project consiste en una serie de preguntas referentes a la visión prototípica de cada país. Para ello, vamos a realizar una serie de preguntas a grupos de alumnos divididos según origen y procedencia, que versarán sobre la visión que tienen ellos en cuanto a las demás personas de otros países. Ej.
¿Estás de acuerdo con la idea de que los españoles son perezosos?
¿Qué piensas sobre la puntualidad de los alemanes?
La respuesta será diferente dependiendo de la cultura origen del alumno que conteste.
OBJETIVOS
El principal objetivo de este project es que los alumnos por sí mismos
lleguen a unas conclusiones a cerca de los estereotipos culturales, analizando
y contrastando las distintas opiniones de sus compañeros para así
formarse una idea lo más amplia y objetiva posible sobre el tema.
También sería interesante que cada alumno aportase su experiencia
personal sobre alguna situación que hubiera vivido en primera persona
sobre las excepciones que ellos mismos encuentren en su vida personal.
FINES LINGÜÍSTICOS
*Utilización de adjetivos (para describir las características
de cada cultura)
*Empleo de presente simple para referirse a atemporalidad y continuidad del
tema a tratar.
*El alumno desarrollará sus destrezas comunicativas sobre todo descriptivas
al relacionar las ideas.
METODOLOGÍA
La duración estimada de este project sería de dos meses para que no se alargue ni resulte muy pesado.
Proponemos que intervengan al menos dos representantes de cada país.
Para la mejor organización de la información recomendamos que se hagan unas tablas estructurando el contenido.
Las posibles propuestas que salgan en la clase se tomarán en cuenta para desarrollar este project.

Educational Systems

1. CONTENT
The e-mail project will consist of the educational systems of the different
countries Of the pupils. They will focus on their different educational stages
at the school and the High school, how many subjects they have in each course,
how much time they spend for Each subject weekly, whether they have a native
speaker as a teacher for their acquisition Of a target language, what they have
to do to access any degree course or other courses After high school, which
levels are established for their marks, and so on. At the end of this Project,
Spanish students will have to design diagrams with the information they have
Collected from their pen pals.
2. INTERACTIONAL PATTERN
There will be different tasks assigned to different groups of people dealing
with the Aspects mentioned below; they will be divided into sections. Each group
will send a single Email with their collected information. At the same time,
they will receive different emails From their pen pals.
3. TIME
They will spend about three months sending one email per week.
4. LINGUISTICS AIMS
They will have to use modal verbs such as "can", "must",
"have to", "should",
and so on. Also, some future expressions will be required.
Concerning lexical aspects, they will use terms related to the education, and
the teacher will help them for this task. They will have difficulty in translating
some specific
Academic terms of one country for another one, so it's better they use
definitions and explanations in these complex cases.
5. COMMUNICATIVE AIMS
a) To be able to write fluently.
b) To acquire knowledge from educational systems of countries different from
theirs.
c) To be able to write appropriately and accurately.
d) To foster written interaction between students.
e) To receive feedback from their pen pals.

Project: To know more about other religions

- It will consist on a questionnaire made by the students about their religion.
- Linguistic objectives: The use of making questions, giving answers as well
as the use of present simple.
- The project will have different links in order to make the students know more
about the other project-mates` religion.
- Duration: five classes: two classes to prepare the questionnaire and send
it. One class to read the answers and comment some aspects. Another class to
receive the questionnaire, fulfil it, and send it. Finally, we will use the
last class for the students to enter in the different links.

YOUR FAVOURITE SINGER

Dar a escoger a los alumnos "individual penpals" atendiendo a afinidades
e
intereses comunes.
Nuestro objetivo lingüistico es la práctica de la estructura comparativa.
Este proyecto se desarrollaría a corto plazo.
El "topic" estará relacionado con la música(grupos musicales),
ya que es
uno de los temas
que los alumnos han mencionado en sus presentaciones.
Cada alumno deberá desarrollar un cuestionario sobre el grupo o cantante
favorito de su penpal y una vez realizado dicho cuestionario, los alumnos lo
intercambiarán con sus "penpals". Después de haber obtenido
la información,cada alumno deberá escribir una "composition"
comparando los datos que ha obtenido con los de su grupo favorito.De esta forma
el alumno se verá obligado a utizar la estructura comparativa con un
tema de su interés.Al final del ejercicio, los alumnos intercambiarán
sus composiciones.

Title of the project: Urban Legends

Topic: Students will develop any tale, legend or story typical from the place they live. They have to write a brief composition and send it to their penpals. Later on, they will comment on if there´s a similar story where they live and other aspects they want.
Work: In small groups of three-four students.
Time: 4 weeks. They have to write one composition per week.
Linguistic aims: Using different tenses (present, past simple, etc). Vocabulary.
Connectors.
Communicative aims: They should be able to narrate a story and exchange cultural information with people from other countries.
