A WEBQUEST DESIGNED
FOR ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
BACHILLERATO
Introduction/ Task/ Process/ Evaluation/ Conclusion/ Teacher's Notes
The
Conflict between Palestinians and Israelis began some years ago. But, why?
Do you know the reasons why this situation happened? How much do you know about
this? In this Webquest, you're going to learn a lot of things about this
topic.
But
first of all, I'm going to explain you the task you have to carry out. You have
to organize yourselves into groups of five.
After
that, you have to be a character. For example, two people are reporters
who are looking for a exclusive new about the Conflict about Palestinians and
Israelis, but they have no idea about this topic. For this reason, they have to
search information on the Internet. But the problem is the following: all the
texts they found on the Internet are writing in a language they can't
understand. So, they have to find two interpreters talking English language.
But the problems for these young reporters will continue and they will have to
look for a teacher they had in the Faculty, because they don't understand at
all the reason because a war can begin.
Organize
yourselves into groups of three. You've to choose a role. You can be a
Israelite, a Palestinian or a mediator of peace.
The Israelite (1 member):
You
have to use the resources below (Role 1)
and try to understand the situation of Israel nowadays. If you don't understand
some words you can look for information in the resources below.
The Palestinian (1 member):
You
have to use the resources below (Role 2)
and you have to read all the texts. Of course, you can use on-line
resources you think are important for you.
The Mediator of Peace (1 member):
You
have to read all the documents talking about history and a glossary. You
can use all the resources your partners use. You are the Role 3.
1.
Form a group of 5 and decide who is going to be assigned each role: the
Palestinian, the Israelite and the Mediator of Peace.
2.
The whole group has to talk about what you already know about the topic that
you have been assigned.
3.
Use the "Resources" which are available for each role.
4.
Follow the instructions and do the tasks for each of the roles by using all the
resources.
5.
The whole group has to talk again and resume in few words the main ideas.
6. Finally, the whole group has to answer the questions of the final quiz and do the final task.
